Natalie started Precious Parcels selling handmade gifts and personalised plaques in October 2008, and sold 300 plaques in the first 5 weeks of trading. Demand from customers has remained consistently high throughout the year. She had designed her very own website, and created a fantastic brand for her company. A real inspiration to mums starting up in business, Natalie wowed the judges with her determination to ensure her start up business was successful, without compromising her position of mummy to her two year old son.

Alison Rothwell, Arabella Miller Ltd

Alison set up her organic clothing company when her youngest daughter developed eczema. When she outgrew her baby clothing, Alison couldn't find any organic cotton tshirts that she liked, which is where the idea of Arabella Miller came from. Arabella Miller boasts an important unique selling point, after Alison created the very first completely organic tshirt, including organic cotton and vegetable based inks. Now stocking in over 60 stores, not only around the UK, but as far as China and Australia, Arabella Miller proved to be a truly successful and ethical business.

A partylite consultant, Jane started her partylite business as a hobby whilst still holding down a full time job. As a unit leader, she leads a team of partylite consultants who all look up to her and are inspired by her, a sure sign of an individual worth celebrating.

Louise Prunty, Caledonian Therapy Academy Ltd

The Caledonian Therapy Academy offer beauty, holistic & hairdressing courses in Central Scotland. Louise set up the award winning academy in 2005 with just £1000 and now has employees and franchises. She supports vunerable young women through the shelter charity offering discounted and free courses, showing dedication to helping others whilst growing her business. The judges were impressed with her business growth, commitment to providing excellent customer service and her plans for the future.

Claire Willis, SnugBaby

SnugBaby designs and manufactures mei tai baby slings which securely carry babies, from newborn right up to toddler. Claire discovered baby wearing in 2007 with her second son, but failed to find a carrier which was both comfortable and stylish. While the concept itself already existed, SnugBaby has brought baby wearing into the 21st century and Claire has created a strong brand. Claire has also launched a UK-wide campaign to promote the benefits of babywearing to support everyone in the industry.

She covers mumpreneur news on her blog, regularly offers advice on website forums, and is a fantastic support to many mumpreneurs.
